2015 Bay Area Book Festival

The Bay Area Book Festival is a free, two-day literary event that will bring 150 authors from around the world to Berkeley, California on June 6 and 7, 2015. The festival will encompass a half square mile of downtown Berkeley, and will include 100 exhibitors, a mini film and literature festival, children’s arena, and cooking stage.

The Bay Area Book Festival will fill downtown Berkeley, California all weekend June 6-7, 2015 with a literary extravaganza that offers pleasure to anyone who has ever loved a book.

The festival is free, including the keynotes, interviews and panels on various downtown stages during the day. There will also be dozens of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Check out the highlights below:

  • Civic Center Park hosts the Children’s Arena with over 40 exhibitors specifically geared toward kids and the Children’s Stage with authors and children’s performances from 10AM-6PM.
  • A free book for every child! Stop by the East Bay Children’s Book Project to pick up a free book for kids and teens. Books have been generously donated by Half Price Books and East Bay Children’s Book Project.
  • Lacuna Art Installation: The amazing library-temple built over the Civic Center Fountain and made entirely of 50,000 books provides quiet nooks for reading any of the books upon the shelves. When you’re done, you can take one home.
  • Play with manual typewriters hidden inside Lacuna, the library-temple made of books in the park. Remember typewriters, the precursors to computers? Kids will wonder while their parents remember!
  • Chalk It Up For Books! Calling all artists, young and old, rookies to professionals! The street is yours for the day to draw your favorite images from any book, even one you’ve written yourself!
